Burano, Italy

A short boat ride from Venice takes me to an equally magical but totally different place called Burano. Home to fishermen and the best handmade lace in the world, the buildings are painted in a rainbow of fluorescent colors.

It may seem odd, but I love to photograph in the rain. The colors are vivid and wet pathways reflect the subjects around them. Scenes that would normally be busy with folks going about their business are often vacant and surreal.
